Usually I prefer Lonely Planet because of their wide range of topics covered by the phrases, but all of them have their own benefits.

This is a marvelous little book. Apart from the flick through the grammar book mentioned in my previous postI haven’t done anything! For most people, this may be a very poor start to someone planning to become fluent, but there is still plenty of time!

The priority in learning a language should always be on communication and not on intensively studying each part of the lpnely to perfection and then going on to the next one. I had an inkling that there were more than just these two, but it was nice knowing more about the different suffixes. Although interesting in its own right, if you have had some training or experience with at least one tonal language such as Mandarin or Cantoneseit may be easier to visualize the tone systems of the other languages in this book.
